Gillian Laub (b.1975, New York) is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York. Laub has spent the past two decades investigating political conflicts, exploring complex family and community relationships, and challenging assumptions about cultural identity. Laub’s first monograph, Testimony (Aperture), began as a response to the media coverage during the second intifada in the Middle East.  Laub spent over a decade working in Georgia exploring issues of lingering racism in the American South (see project.) Laub’s work is widely collected and exhibited, included in the collections at the International Center of Photography, New York; Museum of Fine Art, Houston; Harvard Art Museum, Boston; Jewish Museum, New York among others and a wide range of corporate and private collections. In 2014, Laub was the recipient of an Aaron Siskind Foundation Fellowship. Laub lectures widely and has been interviewed on NPR, CNN, MSNBC, Good Morning America, and Times Talks.
